Sandstones are naturally formed when tiny grains of sand are compressed together over time. Containing quartz or feldspar minerals compacted and cemented together over long periods of time with the help of other minerals such as Silica or Calcite, placing the tiny grains of sand into a solid rock formation through the process of sedimentation.This occurs in environments such as riverbeds, ocean floors and even lakes over a long period of time.
